'64 shaft has 23 splines. I switched to a Centerforce unit last year after hearing all the hype about it. You must remove your heavy OVER CENTER spring on your clutch pedal in order to use a Centerforce unit. The Centerforce unit mechanism is so lite that the spring alone will cause undo pressure. I was hesitant of this but went ahead and removed mine. I must say the clutch performed as promised: easy pedal pressure with momumental grip and the pedal didn't feel sloppy w/o the spring. I was very happy with it for about 1000 miles. I had never in my life had a stuck clutch with the old 3 finger borg & beck style but I now have a stuck Centerforce!!! I'll be trying the remedy from Michael Vath.
