[Chrysler300] Pulsating amp meter

I have a 1969 Dodge Power Wagon that I bought new and now has 
247,000+miles. It has the large factory voltage regulator with the knob 
to adjust its settings.  It has pulsated sense new. Now my 63 Dodge 426 
Dodge has one of the electronic voltage regulators and is steady as a 
rock.  It even gets down to where it is barely charging.  Yet no 
pulsating.  I believe in the electronic regulator whole hardly.
