I observed the collection of lettered cars being sold at no reserve on Saturday last in Phoenix. All the cars were owned by Dr. Rob Page (spelling not guaranteed). How he could have not belonged to either Club is a mystery to me but the cars were VERY nice. Any body know about him? We, who have seen many-many, might find a flyspeck error here and there, but all of us would be quite happy to drive one to our high school reunion. The prices reflect, in my opinion, market value for such high quality cars in this uncertain economic malformation. All are convertibles except the C300 which was the least nicest restoration of the bunch. Wayne Davis was the restorer of the 300C but don't have facts on the others. The prices do not include an additional premium to be paid on top of the hammer down price quoted below. Think another 10 percent has to be added to get the real cost of winning the bid. 1955 Platinum $28,000 1957 Black $ 67,000 1958 White $65,000 1959 White $46,500 1960 Terra Cotta $65,000 1961 Cinnimon $64,000 The E had vin 100044 but it appeared to start H591 rather than M591 as required My close focus must have been damaged by the martinis the previous eve. On the field at Barrett-Jackson was a gorgeous red G that had the bystander's tongues hanging out. If you wear a 300 tee and are near a lettered car, folks sure want to learn from you! My buddy claims the last three cars were bought by the same bidder. Larry W Jett 950 Woodside Road Suite 4 Redwood City CA 94061 650 368 3966 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
