I sometimes place my Torqueflight in neutral when stopped for extended red 
lights.  More to smooth out the idle then anything else, solid lifter 
engines can get somewhat lopey(new English word?).   On motorcycles I do so 
because left hand can get tired from holding in a heavy clutch lever.
