To at least begin the process, keep your hands clean, I would suggest locate the starter relay which should have one large connection with a stud and nut, screw terminal connection and two slip on spade terminals, left inner fender panel. Check for good power always at large stud terminal when attempting to start. Second largest screw terminal should have power only when key is turned to start. Heavy duty jumper switch, large stud to screw terminal and starter should crank assuming power is 1) good at stud and 2) good at starter. There is a solenoid on starter also. One on inner fender panel is neutral inhibitor. One small spade slip on sees power when key is turned to crank and second spade slip terminal is inhibitor circuit that completes ground circuit to solenoid when trans is in neutral.
