RE: [Chrysler300] Edelbrock carbs



I agree with John on keeping the 2903's. My reasoning has more to do with the linkage, however. I looked at going with the Edlebrocks when I first got my G. I backed off when I couldn't find any clean linkage connection with the carbs. Maybe they have added so different brackets, but I couldn't find a way of making them work that I was happy with. I rebuilt my carbs and the car runs great. It can be a little cold blooded if it sits for a week or more, but this is only on start up.

My opinion is that you should not replace your 2903's with more modern
carbs.  I say this for the following reasons:

1/ 2903's are very low CFM carbs -  this makes sense if you think about the
fact that each carb is only working half of the engine (4 cylinders), or
about 206 cubic inches!  Even the smallest Edelbrock 4 barrel you find out
there is going to be too big, as they are all designed for V- 8 engines (all
eight cylinders) and way over 300 cubes

2/ The Edelbrocks will have a larger throat than the 2903's.  Your air
cleaners will not fit on them.

3/ I have worked on many ram inducted cars over the years -  quite a few of
them had modern carbs installed, and all of those ran like crap. In each and
every case, replacing those modern carbs with 2903's made the car run and
perform significantly better, especially at lower RPM's.

If electric chokes are a must- have, some can be adapted to your 2903's
