I cannot remember what this adverets pictured, but I seem to remember the inference/(statements?) were that all major US Automakers were using more aluminum - maybe Chrysler decided the easiest bit of one of their cars to use (satisfy Alcoa, whomever?) was the 300F vent panel - much easier, less structural, than say a fender, and less engineering rework than if tried to use hood or trunk ??!! This is total supposition on my part - I throw it out there for more knowledgeable people in the US, if they remember/know more ?! Christopher in Australia,( where those of you 300 Member farmers, 300 owning graingrowers, who ask I say - the farming weather here is looking worse for most of winter grain/farm areas of Australia - in ongoing drought, (now rated as 1 in 100 year), last year's shocker of a season that started with excellent 3-4 inch rain, so far only about 10-30% of that, and main national major river irrigation dam now only 8% full versus last year still had 18% !! - not too many new 300s likely to be sold to winter grain growers this year so far, although national 300 Dealer run outs under way on them as new update on sale soon, that including the popular 300wagon version sold here - my 'user' 300C is again featured in national major "Unique Cars" monthly mag 1 page color feature on 300s. PN 2165 691 is "steel" and 1909441 is "aluminum". Both areshown as released for all Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto, and Chrysler vehicles.The 1961 parts book does not list the aluminum one, so it was a one yearonly venture, I guess. I only have noted a few carswith the aluminum intake,but would be interested to hear from members who have originals.
