Am very familiar wirh the Boyd Moore's '59E. Boyd and I became close friends (as well as Eleanor) over the years. He had a number of very bad problems with that car, in particular, the engine, transmission, carbs & dist. Frustrated, not being able to drive the car with it's potential, finally shipped complete engine and tranny to me. Who ever "worked" on that engine and tranny, etc. did terrible, inept work, including detailing. I dismantled every thing and "rebuilt" them and detailed. I shipped back and awaited for results. A short while, waiting for reply, called his company in Texas. The lady answering the phone was evasive to my call untill I told her who I was. She connected me to Boyd's wife, Chloe. She gave me the sad news that Boyd had passed away very suddenly, without warning. The news broke my heart. He had not had the chance to drive the E after the rebuilds. Later, she told me the E ran "excellent". Chloe then put the E for sale. She contacted me about some offers that didn't sound right. She suspected some "scams". "Brokers" and some other questionable "offers". I suggested to her that she remove the car for sale for awhile. I had not heard from her for some time after that. I think that the company was put up for sale along with some other cars Boyd had. Chloe took Boyd's passing very hard. As I said before, Boyd became a very dear friend to both Eleanor and I. He was a very nice Gentleman! About 2.5 years ago now Mr. Moore passed away. Does anyone know where the ex-Carpenter, ex-Moore E convertible has ended up?
