Re: [Chrysler300] What an ice breaker!

Sounds like a day you won't forget.
Last Month my wife and I went on our first vacation in twenty five years. My wife bought me a new 2009 Dodge Ram 1500,, Laramie, Quad Cab , Hemi 4X4. On our way home we stopped in Carson City, NV. to see our Daughter. She informed me one of her neighbors has a 1970 Superbird. She had told him that her dad also had one. She called him and he came over to show it to me. I will skip how nice the Bird was but it sounded a little Hotter than my plain ole 440. He opened the Hood and their sets a 528 cu. in Hemi. His dyno papers showed 742 H.P. He asked me if I wanted to go for a ride. After I quit stuttering I got out a yes with a head nod.
My son in-law got in the back seat and off we went. We went about a 1/2 mile away and there was a two lane rd. going across the desert. That's when he told us it also had a 5 speed Transmission. He took the Hemi up to about 3,500 rpm and dumped the clutch. and off we went. Now I tell you for a 68 year old man that was the most powerful street car I have ever been in. We never made it into 5th gear but let me tell you we were pushing 100 in 4th gear and I was still trying to catch my breath from 1st gear. We stopped and turned around and made the same run going back.
My son-in-law apologized for yelling after we got back from the return run. He said he just couldn't hold it back any longer. There's a great story on how The owner acquired the Bird. I won't go into it. I know this sight is for 300's only, but I had to tell somebody about my ride.
                                                                                                                            Gary Barker

  Hello 300'ly to all!
Wore my new Chrysler 300 Club International vest yesterday at Texas Motor Speedway while attending the SRT Track Experience conducted by the Richard Petty Driving School! What a blast! Drove every SRT-8: Challenger, Grand Cherokee, Charger and 300, Caliber SRT-4 and my hot lap was as shotgun in a SRT-10 Viper driven by a Richard Petty Driving School teacher. Then at the end of the course, we were afforded the opportunity to go 3 laps of Texas Motor Speedway in a Richard Petty stock car driven by one of the Richard Petty drivers! Talk about the E-ticket at Disneyland! We hit over 165 mph and I thought I was on the scariest and LOUDEST roller coaster ever! The 300 vest was a great ice breaker with the Richard Petty folks and the 69 other students attending. Many thought the 300 HemiC SRT-8 WAS the Banker's Hot Rod. Kudos to Chrysler for maintaining the heritage! ROB KERN
