Re: [Chrysler300] how to tell your brake lights are working

Tapping on to the brake light switch wiring as described will test and verify power to the brake light switch and switch function only. The contacts in the turn signal switch and the lights in the rear will not be tested and verified.

Backing up to a wall under low light conditions or a cleverly placed convex mirror in the garage work well to test everything and including turn, tail and backup lights. Two mirrors (or a wall) and the front lighting can be checked also.

Being the fussy old lady that I am, I wire tell tale lights into the
brake light circuit. When I push on the brake and activate the lights, a
small "tell tale" light glows below the dash and I know the tail lights
  are on.

It is easy to add a tell tale to the stop light circuit. It is wired in
parallel from the downstream side of the stop light switch. The last one
I did was on a 62 and it was easy to run the wire to the tell tale which
I mounted on a bracket screw so it peaks out from behind the console.
Ground side of the light goes to the dashboard.
  Easily reversible if need be.

Or, if you have sharp eyes you should be able to see your ammeter
deflect when your lights come on........no ammeter on the 65 or 66 so
  you need tell tales there.
