I try to obtain lists of std & optional equipment on members’ cars and have only one 300G conv with a/c 8413172964. Red, belongs to a member in Covina, CA. I visited the black G conv today. It is being displayed in a large building full of medium to high-end collector cars at a business that has been in Livermore for some time. CTR motors buys, sells and consigns collector cars and is just off of I580 in Livermore at 950 North Canyons Parkway in Livermore, CA 94551. Well worth a visit if you are in the neighborhood. The paint, interior and chrome/ss trim are gorgeous. I found out that the car now belongs to an apparent relative of the former and deceased member of the INT club and the car is there under consignment. Tires are nice new Goodyear radials P235-15. I wasn’t sure whether the wide WSW’s were proper. Wheel covers are in the trunk—CTR is checking on the availability of wheels and boot, but they are probably still available. The green box on the RHS under the hood appears to be an electric fuel pump. Other observations—sill plate covers are not the greatest with some polishing done and several corroded edges noted. I passed on, as constructive comments, observations others have made on the car regarding wire-spoke wheels, orange hoses, screw-type hose clamps, gray painted heater box, blue ignition wires, lack of decals on the air cleaners, lack of hood pad, and the ’62-style AstraDome instruments which I could not elaborate on. The wiring has little numbered tabs on it, suggesting a new wiring loom was installed. I think I’d remove the little tabs after the installation passed the smoke test. I encouraged the shop to have the owner join the 300 Club and give us a chance to advertise his car. I suggested some photos of the underside which may or may not add value to the car. I took some pictures that are not particularly helpful. The Body Plate has been painted over so many times, photos did not come through. An attempt to read the plate revealed the following: C-8, D-1, N-1, O-4, P-2 or 7,T-3, U-1. I suggested the plate be gently removed, painted once with gloss black and reinstalled .All-in-all, a very enjoyable trip to see a bunch of nice cars. The 55-mile round trip was made with the top down on our little 1986 2.2 K woody conv. I’ll forward the few good pictures I took if anyone is interested. My cinnamon G convert had air - there's 1. Anyone else out there with a G convert with air? As an aside - I had three letter car coupes and three converts. None of the coupes had air and all of the converts did have air. Go figure. Pete Fitch In a message dated 11/20/2012 3:47:28 P.M. Where does this information come from? What sources? As far as I'm concerned it is just hearsay unless or until it is verified that only 10% of all G converts built had factory air, or a specific number of total G convertible production with AC be confirmed. I would love to see an official confirmation of this number, and it would have to come from Gil Cunningham, as he is the only verifiable source on the question. Another bit of information, that would shed light on the issue would be to know how many G converts are in the Club registry with factory AC. Not sure if that is possible to determine, but others may know. Gloria? I didn’t buy it because of the A/C, but because I simply liked the car. As mentioned, the wire wheels are simply not correct, but I would excuse that if the car came with the original wheels and wheel covers-which are getting increasingly hard to find. Notice that there is only one picture of the engine compartment. Many details are not correct. No hood pad, no trunk lid felt liner, no picture of Trim Code plate. Only 12 made with AC? I know the numbers are low, but that sounds like a guess to me, and not based on factual information. I researched this several years back and was not able to come up with a definitive number. I had three G project cars, all had factory AC, I doubt that I had 25% of G production with AC in my back yard. The body and interior work does appear to be pretty well done though, but the devil is in the details now isn't it? Wire wheels are not and were never optional on a G. The engine compartment is a mess of things wrong. Red heater hoses? That shows a complete lack of research on what is correct. Hose clamps are all worm style, blue ignition wires, and what is the green thing by the washer bag? Two of the dash gages are also 62 style. If I had the money to buy something this expensive, I would at least want everything to be correct. But maybe that’s just me, maybe pretty is all that matters. Don Verity 300-G consultant.
