RE: [Chrysler300] Re: 300 Navigation Disc

That's very strange, because my Chrysler factory navigation works fine in San Francisco. When I need an update disc I get them from eBay sellers, the 2012 disc I bought last summer was $35. Yes, it was a copy, but it had the hack done to it that allows you to use it on the go. Actually I have a separate unit (like the Garmin) I use with my Dakota pickup.

I love the big screen on my factory navigation, and how it is integrated with the radio and Uconnect. i wouldn't be without it, you can have the stand-alone units, I don't like having to deal with trying to stick it someplace and trying to hide it every time I park it so it won't get stolen. The factory unit also plays through the stereo, and I can adjust the volume to any level I need so it is easy to hear, even when I am on the phone, like I say, its integrated to all work together.

By the way, the same disc works in our 2005 Town & Country van that has factory Navigation and Uconnect. The van unit is an RB1, and the 300C is a REC, the same disc was used by both so I copied the disc and got a two for one deal, can't beat that.

I like my Garmin, much better than the factory GPS in our BMW's, but it proved useless in downtown San Fran with all the interference of tall buildings. (Kept losing the satellite signal which confused the unit) Wished then that I had a map as backup!

The way I see it, I'd rather not pay for a factory unit that will be obsolete in a couple years and cost thousands to buy and update. The cheapest GPS units at Costco are superior to anything you'll get from the factory and you can take them with you on vacation or plug them into your classic car if need be. If it gets stolen because you left it in plain sight in your car, buy another one.

Hope you're all enjoying your weekend.

Good luck with that in the middle of San Francisco or LA!

$9.95 for a new Rand McNally atlas at WalMart.
I can read a map and plan a trip!
Have managed over 4,000,000 miles w/o it!
Got all this fancy stuff on Carolyns '08 Hemi C and also my '11 Laramie
Longhorn
Never used any of it. Can't read the screen in the daylight anyway.

Seems a little silly to me. Rarely looked at, usually you follow the voice
prompts.
My unit mounts on the windshield, but I have it low down near the dash.
>From my point of view, it covers mostly the wipers and little bit of the
hood I can see.
The little bit of road area it would cover, is so close to the car as to be
of no matter.
The main reason it's on the windshield is to expose the antenna more and to
amplify it's speaker.
It's rarely mounted, just used on trips.

See you ALL at the Spring Meet...
