  Yeah I read that same report. The guy that did it tested several oil 
filters. He got info from the manufactures on the filtering capabilities. He also 
cut them apart to look at the interior of each filter. He counted pletes in the 
paper, the thickness of the paper, how many microns it could filter.  Based on 
his tests the Purolator filter was the best buy for the money. This was a 
totaly independant test and he admits that he is not an expert in the oil filter 
business. You could get better filters but they were much more expensive. He 
recomended staying away from Fram (all cardboard parts on the inside) and also 
he said the the factory Mopar filters were just as poor. 
   I buy Purolator filters and I have been buying them for many years. I 
think if you regularly maintain your vehicle you will have little trouble. The 
purolator number that I use is  L3001. It is a long filter but with my cars that 
doesnt matter. It fits just fine. I buy them for around 3.50 each.
