The hot rod club in Austin mostly have flat heads in their rods. One is a 34 Chevy coupe with a 392 Hemi, completely rusted. Get first place at shows. One of my rods a 56 F-100 sports a 383 Mopar and I like it that way. ;)

Wally, I think you have summed it up exactly right. The Chevy small blocks are plentiful. The replacement parts are cheap, and sold everywhere. All this makes the SB Chevy engine the #1 choice for rodders of all makes.

We have a few excellent Mopar street rods and custom trucks that show up
at our shows.  The ones I've seen have used both small block and big
block Mopar engines.  I'm always glad to see that they rodded their ride
with a Mopar.  A Chevy engine just wouldn't look right under the
hood....Brian
