RE: glove box little yellow sticker

Code no. for the supercommando engine on fender tag would have been 09. from
my chrysler press releases and pictures the first press release of the new
super commando engine " HEMI" release to the press with picture was dated
Feb 17 1964. also encluded are pictures of Richard Petty looking at his new
super commando eng for the Daytona 500. the next release was to the dealers
with a service bulletin No. 64-73 May 12 1964 giving the dealers all the
information on the new engine and it lack of warranty and poor driving
habbits on the street in cool and cold weather. It goes on to give the
service dept. all the specs. for the new eng as far as carb used and all the
other eng and drive tran specs. It replaced the max wdg and would take over
the no. 9 on the fender tag. also all max wedge and hemi engine cars wer
produced at the Lynch road plant. any car touted to be an original hemi car
would have to have a fender tag with 09 on it with a build date of may 1964
and built at the lynch raod plant. all the earlier engines were sent to the
race drivers to put in the cars they already had for the race season the
first hemi engines were produced starting feb 1964 the last maxwedge was
built jan 1964. Dave O

So, on the fender tag of a 1964 Plymouth B, is there a way to tell if
the engine code means Hemi 426 or Stage III 426? Code 9 under AB or QR
as wedge? (Assuming the sticker would be there if car had either engine
as original equipment.)
