It should work with a few coats.  I would think warm gear oil would  wash it  
off after awhile, but if their rusting they must not be getting any  lube   
When you have them out, clean them and spray away.  The stuff's  called Rust  
Guard-It.  I'll grab a can at work tomorrow night and see who  makes it.  It's  
either Outer's, Casey Birchwood, or Hoppe's, but it's in  most gun shops.  I  
used some on master cylinders (exterior) and it makes  carb gaskets non-stick and  
often reusable.  Joe
