That piece on my car is original and worn but not as much as yours.
The chrome-like finish is on the raised area around the perimeter of
the whole thing, and it looks like also the raised areas around the
slot for the park lever and each button hole. The interior is a flat
silver/argent color.
I tried to get a picture, but the finish difference didn't show very
well. If it stops raining later, I'd probably be able to get a better
picture outside.
