I have been racing Hemi Super Stock type Dodges for many years, so I perhaps am not the most objective. I believe, with everything being equal, the Hemi will outrun a any wedge headed engine.

Your comparison to WO/RO version is not really a good one. The RO/WO was not the empitome of Hemi packages. It was an inline setup (a modified Vanke intake) but other than that was pretty much a street Hemi in a slightly lightened B body.

A better comparison to the Hemi would be to the 65 A990 cars, which had equal compression, along with a cross ram. These were Hemi counterpart package cars to the Maxie package, and would outrun a Maxie any day. (NO disrespect to the Maxie, but the Hemi design is simply much superior).

Just as a side, the WO/RO cars fit in NHRA/IHRA SS/DA, same as the Maxies. With the development that the WO/RO package has recieved over the years, it is generally quicker and faster than the Maxies in that venue.
