Neither engine nor body style codes appeared in the VIN prior to 1966.

Tbe data tag might give engine information.  It will give info on some other
options, plus interior and paint.   For 1962, I can decode Lynch Road and
Hamtramck tags, and have some info on LA tags.

If you don't mind spending $45, you can get a copy of the build record from
DaimlerChrysler Historical.  That card will list all the infoirmation you
need.
