It is the parking brake warning light, an option in 1965 and other years.

If your car came with the light, there would be a switch on the brake lever
assembly under the dash.   The lamp is basically an in-line setup, with one
wire going to the accessory side of the fuse box (is works only when the
ignition is in ACC or ON/RUN positions) while the other wire goes to the
switch.

They were normally installed on the lower left edge of the instrument panel
on A and B bodies, although I have seen some Canadian 1963-64 Valiants with
it mounted on the side of the dash.  The parking brake warning light was
both a factory and dealer installed option.  As a result, you will see the
light installed in many different locations along the left side of the dash.

i picked up one of those little red indicator lights that I've seen on many
lower left dashes at a swap meet recently. Is it an emergency brake
indicator? It has 2 plugs attached top to the wireing. Was it availale on
the 65 coronet? and if so what do i hook it up to?, and exactly where does
it go? is there a switch like the one on the brake pedel that makes it work?
