Is this typical of a "new tight" hi compression motor?

If it is tight. IE built by a guy who specializies in small block
chevies it will soon become a loose rattling mess. . I am hoping it is
not so. No engine should be tight. Parts dont wear in, they wear out.
Clearances are specified by the manufactiurer and Hi Perf motors are
always on the looser side of specs than grannys new yorker would be.

Assuming that is not the case.
then initial timing needs to be reduced and a better grade of fuel put
in the engine.
Mine will occassionally baulk just before it fires if I dont use sunoco
94. It is pushing close to 11 to 1 but not quite.
Using a late model 318 truck starter (IE 94 Dodge ) helps quite a bit
as they have more torque. You have to remove the plastic cover and the
extra wire connectors so the cables just bolt directly to the starter
itself but they do work well.
