Neil; I will try to anwser some of your questions, I am no  expert on it, but 
here are some of your anwsers.
 
line boring will not be neccessary for swapping the cranks,  the block is not 
line bored for an individual crank, line boreing is for  correcting any 
misalignment problems with the block itself
 
the dampner will interchange as long as it is being  done,,,,,,,,cast to cast 
or forged to forged, as long as it is not from a 6-pak  engine
 
It is always a good idea to have the rods resized and  magnafluxed on any 
rebuild, it is a good insurance plan,  but no you could  just install them
