Jimmy you can get 8 3/4 posi rear-ends that are the same width as a 64 B
body original rear-end for $100.00? If you run into one in 389 or 410 let me
know it will save me alot of problems. Most of the 8 3/4 rears I find are
too wide for the early B bodys. I am just learning on this car so I
appriciate all the help I can get. The older parts are far and few between
in my area. Terry

It's going to cost an arm, and a leg to narrow one.
You can usually buy one ready to bolt in for around $100,

I am wanting to up grade from my original 8 3/4 tapered rear on my 64
Savoy and not sure which way to go. I can get a Posi 8 3/4 out of a 66
Dodge P.U. with 389 gears. The 3rd member is a 741. Dutchman in Portland
can narrow the rear-end to match the 64 width. I can then run the 741
until I can afford to up grade to a 742 or 489 carrier. The other option
is to install the rear-end at its present width and have some rims built
with more offset. I have thought of getting a Dana 60 built for the car
but this is really expense. The original car was a 6 cyl 3 spd car. I have
the old Bell Housing, linkage, drive line, and rear-end if any one wants
this stuff let me know. I may have a 66 Dodge 1/2 ton pick-up with running
6 cyl and 4 spd.. I am waiting to make the offer on the truck once I
decide on what to do with the rear-end. The new motor is a stock built Max
Wedge and 4spd. Thank-you Terry
