RE: Cam & Lifter failure

Yeah, I can attest to that problem. I'm on my third cam and lifter setup
after having 3 lifters sieze up in the bore and ruining 2 cams. I broke
my cams in on non-synthetic oils then switched to Mobil 1 but it didn't
help.
I now have Racer Brown cam, lifters and rockers in my engine. I asked
Jim at RB about breaking in the cam using synthetic oil. He didn't
reccommend it, so I didn't.
So far, although I don't have many miles on the new cam and gear, I
haven't had a problem. I hope RB gets their lifters from a good
manufacturer. Haven't really romped on the motor yet either but this
year, it's either.. go or blow!
For all the money I've put into new cams, lifters, springs etc. I should
have gone with a roller cam in the first place.
