Your drivetrain's survival will depend largely on how you drive the car. What breaks stuff is when the tires grab and the engine makes power. I.E. If you're power braking with cheater slicks, it won't last very long. If you drive like an old man, you can expect more longevity but where's the fun in that? I've seen where the 904 can be built rather strong. I don't know how much the 7.25 can take but if I were planning to build the car up, I'd go ahead and get an 8.75.

The idea of the progressive linkage makes a lot of sense, as does the big cam!
I'd love to have something like that under the hood.

My engine would need to be freshened up at least before doing that.
Would my 904 and my 7 1/4" rear end survive such an engine for a week or two??
