Brian, in one of the last chapters on 'Body and Sheet Metal'
there should be a paragraph or two about the grill (removal/ intsallation). I don't have my book in front of me, but as I recall the lower ss grill surround pieces, there's a small square piece in the center, held on by a nut, you can get to
from behind. some of the push-on clips you can get to from behind also.
a stiff bladed putty knife and a rag or piece of wood to pry on may help.
