Re: steering u-joint

Was the installation bolt in or did you have to do some cutting and welding?
Do you like the driveability or do you get a lot of steering feedback?

I installed the Flaming River U-Joint ass'y with a manual steering box in my
'62.
I have a 440 with MaxWedge cast iron exhaust manifolds and the U-Joint
leaves a lot more room.
It's easy to install. They provide good instructions with it.
I didn't check if they have one for the power steering.

Anyone use one of these or rebuilt the original coupler?

suspension and steering linkage (other than the box) is new. I understand
that the steering couplers do wear out. Is there a preferred source for the
rebuild kits? Are any better than the others? What about the u joint type
kits from flaming river and others? Any pro or con with them??
