On my dart, the top is held on by bolts on the underside that you get at from the trunk.

I'm looking into re-painting my convertible, and I'd like to pull ALL
the chrome and do it as close to right as I can. My biggest concern is
the strip that runs around the back edge of the top, that has the
buttons on it to hold the boot. If I pull that, does it also hold the
top in place? so if it does, won't I be in deep sh!t trying to get the
top back in place?
