Interesting discussion on moth balls and octane.I hardly trust our current fuel mix let alone a witch's brew, but I think I just repeated myself. Anyhow I have come across/investigated the following two octane boosters that show merit; a significant real octane boost for minimal cost p/gal outlay.
The two boosters are MachTane and Kemco Octane Supreme 130. I ordered one qt. of the MachTane and a case of the Kemco 130. Additionally, if either product shows merit I may be buying regular to large quantities.
Anyhow, the information is out there now and if anyone else gives it a test let me know your results and we can compare notes.
I would suspect that our 91 pump unleaded swamp-water in CA is good for 9.5 to near 10 to 1 compression MAX depending a great deal on internal engine factors where the 10 to 1 ratio is concerned. However, I am extremely encouraged that a true 10 to 1 compression engine can be run economically with either of these boosters; testing to follow. If I am correct in my pre-assessment, the cost basis would be approx. a $1 p/gal. increase in fuel cost to run a 10 to 1 motor.

They also had two inline filters on their cars. Don't recall that they had any fuel problems, or any that they would talk about. If I remember correctly I read that mothballs mixed with gasoline added an extra oxygen molecule to the mixture, so it makes sense that it would make more HP somewhat like a crude precursor to the nitros set-ups of today. We also had a guy that swore the purple dye that Martin Gas Co. put in their ethyl was his secrete performance enhancer. That said I also remember one guy bragging that he ran jet fuel mixed with his gas. The problem with that is jet fuel is just diesel fuel run through another refining process. And regular gasoline is two or three more steps above that. Now if he was bragging that he used the high octane Aviation Gas like I ran then he might have something to brag about. Listed by the EPA and other Government sources as a pesticide 7.5 million lbs. used as pest control yearly 369 million lbs. used by the Dept. of Defense yearly 1.84 billion lbs. used by US jet market yearly Toxic level 2 - for inhaling Toxic level 3 - for contact to skin and eyes Inhalation causes dizziness - vomiting - nausea - headaches - shortness of breath - coughing - burning eyes Naphthalene can also kill red blood cells causing hemolytic anemia and is also linked to nasal cancer.
