273 Swapping Sides on Pistons

Over on the A-Bodies only Board, they are talking about swapping sides 
on the 10.5:1 pistons on 273's.  I had some confusion, but it seems to 
make a little sense.  Dome offset isnt centered, so parts of the piston 
may come closer to the head in places and more gap in others.

Has anybody on the list done this in the past and had any real success? 
What are the downsides to this?
