RE: Mopar 383 engine tech

If memory serves me correctly I believe oil flows from the pump up into the cam galley which then feeds the cam and the crank. Also this is what feeds the oil sensor at the back of the block. I have suffered with oiling problems enough for any two people!! We have had issues with the cam causing poor oiling to the crank. A very rare issue, but that was the only idea we could come up with. Changed the cam and problems stopped. Just a personal experience.

Thanks folks for your input. I would not have thought about a lifter popping out. I will observe the valve trtain and trry the primer rod. Where does
the oil guage fitting on the block get its pressure from? where can I
check for pressure befor it gets to the oil sender fitting?  I am trying to diagnose where the problem is before having to take the pan off.  Any more input? Thanks..................MO {Steve Mick}

Do you have an oil priming rod? That might tell you if the pump is working or not.
