Re: Darg Racing - Not pulling at top of gear

I'm going to use an electronic transmitter so I can send the pressure to a gauge inside the car. Hopefully that will be accurate. But that inaccuracy issue is food for thought.

Regarding fuel pressure gauges, don't trust them too much. I have had about 4 or 5 of them and found that the liquid filled apparently heat up and give a faulty reading. I have one to each carb at the regulator and the liquid filled will say I have little to no fuel pressure while the standard gauge will say anywhere from 5 to 6. I found that they appear OK to set the pressure when the engine is cold but after that it's pretty much guess work. I do not re-adjust later.

hi don,
from your description, it sounds like a fuel problem.  some questions:
- on the dyno, was your motor still making power at 6300 rpm?  or was
the HP dropping off precipitously?  did you have the electric fuel
pump on during the dyno?
- where did you put your electric fuel pump?  should be as close to
the tank as possible as it is easier to push fuel then pull fuel.
- did you remove your mech fuel pump?  if removed, what regulator are you using?
- does your e-fuel pump require a return flow back to the tank?
- do you have enough amps to run the e-fuel pump?

a fuel pressure gauge is critical to understand where you stand.
