The clock in your car is running too fast because the pivots are worn causing the pinions not to mesh with the wheels. The result is direct power to the hands from the motor that runs the clock. This is actually an electric clock, not a electrically wound clock. It can be rebuilt by a watch maker, but it is very expensive. The plates have to be bushed. Originally they were simply drilled.

I have had one of these rebuilt successfully. The watch maker said that the way they are made, they were not meant to be repaired. He was able install the new bushings with silver solder.

Also, this clock is indentical to the one used in 1957 Lincoln Premier/Capri, but with a different dial attached. I found a NOS one of these, and was easily able to switch the dial and hands.
