Well, I'll file this under the requested
"negative opinions" section then, But a few comments. I have owned a 62
cvt and loved it. Those trimmed down fins with the taillight atop the
ends are very appealing to me. My partner had a beautiful 62 2 door
hardtop. >From the side the car
looked ready to take flight. My current preference for the 60 style
doesn't mean I don't miss my 62 nor my 61. I love the finned look.
I'd like to have one of each but lack of room and funds requires a choice to
be made. I restored a 60 in the late 90s, sold it for lots and deeply
regretted such a foolish decision. Hence the resto. of this one which I
do plan to keep for quite a long time.
I hope to see your 62 at some time and hear why you have chosen the
62 over other years. For me, it's a very difficult decision.

Hmmm--I saw and read that article in Hemming's with interest.
Being a '62 fan, I was dumbstruck by the negative comparison with a '60 and
chose not to make an issue of it. To each their own, I
guess.

Imperial is on the cover of the July Hemmings Motor News with an
accompanying article on 60 to 63 Imperials. One person mentioned the
article. Two friends on the IML sent me congratulatory notes
and there may have been one other mention. Of course, it is a really
big deal for me. I guess IML folks don't buy or subscribe to
Hemmings. I expected there would be quite of few reactions ranging
from "Way to go!" to positive and/or negative opinions about the article
to "How did you get your car on the cover?" and "Can I do that?" and
"How?" etc.
I thought getting the word out about what
great cars Imperials are would be of interest. Ah well, I sure got a
big kick out of it.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the
article in AutoWeek magazine about Imperials. It was a column by the
publisher, Rich Ceppos about the recent Orphan Car Show in Yspilanti,
Michigan. He and other AutoWeek people judged the "Orphans of the Big
Three" class and gave the trophy to ".....a showroom-perfect flesh-colored 1957 Imperial with only 12,000
original miles on it. It's big-finned optimism shouted 'Detroit at
it's peak' ".
