RE: IML: correct carb for '67?



If the car was a Cleaner Air Package (CAP) car, it would have come with a 4312S.  If it did not have the CAP package, it would have come with a Holley R3667A (my sympathies).

 

The 4327S was used on the 440s in the lesser cars without CAP, if they had the “high performance” option with automatic transmission, but it was not original equipment for any Imperial, according to the parts book.

 

If you come across a complete Auto-Pilot for a 67/68, I’d appreciate a chance to buy it from you.

First time caller / long time reader.  By the way, great website, great people, invaluable info, I'm sending a check to help out with the costs.

 

Here are a few "tech" questions:

 

My '67 Crown Coupe 440 cid has a Carter AVS #4635S on it currently.  Based on info from "tocmp.com", this carb belongs on a 1968 Dodge 383 w/ AC & an A/T.  It just doesn't work right either.

 

Q-1:  Can anyone confirm the correct carburetor and # that belongs on a '67 Crown Coupe?  There was a Holley # 4160-C used in '67, and I believe mostly Carter AFB's, used as the factory carbs.  "thecarburetorshop.com" lists (in their kits section) 6 different Carter AFB's.

 

Q-2:  Our website has great info and a description of the "C.A.P." system (which would cover 4 of the 6 choices).  What does the "A-134" (which covers the other 2 choices) engine designation mean?

 

Q-3:  I do have a Carter AFB 4327S in the basement (along with about 15 other late '60's - early '70's Mopar carbs).  "thecarburetorshop.com" lists this as the carb for the A-134 engine.  Is this right for a 1967 Crown?

 

By the way, "the basement" is FULL of '60's-'70's Mopar parts (my late Father's lifelong pack-rat efforts).  EVERTHING from brakes to engines to carbs to interiors and on and on and on.  I have taken over the restoration of his 1965 300L, which has the engine from our old '67 Crown Coupe - hence the question regarding carbs.  As I figure out what is in "The Basement", I will offer it to the club first.  I promise I won't just rent a dumpster (or two) and toss it!  I know how hard some of the "correct" stuff is to find!

 

Any info on the carbs would help.
