Strange Noise - 1970 Imperial

 I would say it is the Auto-Temp system going into park position. My 75 does
this when you leave system on and turn car off.  Try having car or key  on
with system on, then use the button to turn system off.  See if your sound
is replicated.

Hi Folks,

My '70 Imperial is exhibiting a strange noise at
times, and I'm unsure of the source.

The noise is coming from the area in the front cowl
where the passenger side floor vent would be.  Since
the car has AutoTemp (1967-1970 first generation
AutoTemp), there's no vent there.  The noise sounds
like sort of a fluttering-sucking sound (which is the
best was I can think to describe it).

At first, I thought it was the heat riser flap, but
the noise continues even when the engine is turned
off, as long as the key is in the accessory position.
It even happens occasionally when the switch is first
turned on and still in the accessory position.

Is this some anomaly with the AutoTemp system?  Has
anyone else encountered this one before?
