My 66 was also using a lot of gas. Pulled the carb off and rebuilt it, noticed that the float setting was incorrect and set too high. Put a high rise manifold and the choke (stovepipe) does not work and had to put a manual choke on. This is very easy to do only had to drill one hole in the carb and two under the dash had the whole thing done in 15 min. I also bought 5 gal container of 118 gas and add about a pint to every other tank of gas (92) and I'm getting better gas mileage now and the car starts right up on the cold mornings. ____________________________________________ David J.
