My parents used to have an 89 Dynasty with this "feature." They had problems with this feature twice. The first time too much stuff got put in there and when the trunk pulled down it ripped the sheet metal (this is was visible looking up at the catch area) so that the catch and the motorized part no longer matched up. The second time the latch actually got damaged/misaligned somehow. Everything looked normal to us when we looked in there. Eventually my dad took it to a body shop (the dealer couldn't handle it) and they fixed it for about $50. Sometimes we found that if we let it cycle down then it would bring the bottom latch up and it would then work again. Sometimes not. James Jim Gathmann wrote: >Anyone have any ideas on this one?
