Thank god it was something simple and cheap like the control cable. It just
goes to show why you should look things over for the simple things before
you tear into them. It reminds me of a radio that someone offered to give
me, this has actually happened twice, where they said that it didn't work
anymore.
After I got the thing I, of course, started checking it over. Lo and behold
I find that the bandswitch was turned to shortwave, turn it to broadcast and
it roars to life. In a similar incident it with a portable radio I found
that the power switch was turned to battery so it did nothing when you
plugged the set into the wall.
