78 NYB squeals

Hello again,
    78 NYB is still squealing above 1500 rpm or so. 
Belts are tight and I don't think it's coming from
there.  One suggestion I got was that it could be the
fan clutch.  When I put my stethescope on the water
pump housing(close as I can get to the fan clutch),
the squeal sounds like its coming from there.  May I
assume that it's  coming from either the water pump or
the fan clutch, and if so, is there a way to isolate
the problem between the two, or do I just have to
replace both?
