Todd St. Clair asked about the correct colour scheme for a 58 Belvedere. I
don't have experience with 58's but the following applies to 55's:
medium grey:
- undersides of body up to the seam where the floor pan meets the firewall
- inside of trunk including floor, wheel housings and underside of deck lid
- interior of passenger compartment including floors
- this paint was applied before body colour and shows body colour overspray
body colour:
- exterior of car (of course)
- engine side of firewall
- underside of hood
- steering column and instrument panel
black:
- frame, front suspension, steering linkages, driveshaft and rear axle
assembly
- both sides of inner front fenders
- radiator and radiator support
- both sides of floor pan insert that fits around the steering column
- bumper supports
engine and transmission are aluminium colour except:
- fan, breather cap, oil filter shell, coil mounting bracket, generator, p/s
pump, distributor & starter are black
- air cleaner is black on 6's, red on 55 V8's, yellow on 56 V8's, black on
V8's with 4bbl carb
