Re: [FWDLK] 57 Belvedere Hemi Commando?

The 1958 American Plymouth engine line-up was :

Fury V-800 : 318-cid V8 - 1-2 bbl carb - all models except Fury
Fury V-800 with Super-Pak : 318-cid V8 - 1-4 bbl carb - optional all models
except Fury
Dual Fury V-800 : 318-cid V8, 2-4 bbl carbs - Fury series only
Golden Commando : 350-cid V8, 2-4 bbl carbs - optional all models

The 1957 American Plymouth engine line-up was :

277-cid V8, 1-2 bbl carb - Plaza series only
Fury 301 V8 : 301-cid V8 1 2-bbl carb - Belvedere, Savoy and Suburban
(optional Plaza)
Fury 301 with Super-Pak : 301-cid V8, 1-4 bbl carb - optional all but Fury
Fury V-800 : 318-cid V8, 2-4 bbl carb - Fury series (optional all other
series)

So, I would say 1958 was the first year Plymouth used the "Golden Commando"
or "Commando" name on their engines.

Assuming "Hemi Commando" is a play on the term "Golden Commando"... then

Dave,
I think yes relative to 'Golden', ... however, remember there was also a
'Commando' and a 'Super Commando', and I don't remember when *they* were
first on the scene!
