Re: [Chrysler300] That's a wheel of a different color

What restorers need to know is that if the re-caster had the plastic
to match your suggested Desert Beige, are there going to be any
Concours points off for color?
Assume the wheel is otherwise in great or restored condition. Can we
also assume that with no color samples that are reliable, color won't
be a factor in judging if the color is close.

Rich and All: The "beige" instrument panel colors are not that
straightforward. This is what I found:

C300: Saddle Beige, Ditzler (PPG) # 21181
300B: Sand Dune Beige, Ditzler # 21185
300C: Desert Beige, #21281 (Also an exterior color for 1957)
300D, 300E, and 300F: Saddle Beige, #21181

Kind of went full circle, didn't it?

I am sure there no longer exists any plastic color master for the beige
portion of the 300C steering wheel. However I think it can be assumed
that
Chrysler's intent was to match the beige colored components inside the
car,
and I would think the best way to do that would be to match the Desert
Beige I/P color. As has been previously mentioned, even protected NOS
wheels
have shown the effects of time on the plastic color, and so cannot be
relied on as masters.
