the key is combustion chamber design. the better the design the more 
detonation resistant. big block mopars, especially 68 and later, have a crummy 
combustion chamber. the plug is in a bad location and the non-quench heads mean 9-1 
comp. at most. fortunately better combustion chamber designs are available, 
better plug locations, high velocity ports, etc, are available. if you're using 
68 and later iron heads, quench dome pistons are a must for performance.
