Short long ram on eBay

Today I saw a high rpm "long" ram on eBay.This is the one with the
runner length shortened internally.Used on the race 300s and D500s and
rumored to have been used on a few 62s until the max wedge came
out.Looking at the back you can see the runners are smooth until about
10 inches or so from the port.  Bids are at $800 when I saw them.
Perhaps some of the list who know about these can expound on them.
