RE: Heater Core and overheat

I've been running a 383 in my 63 Sport Fury for 25 years with the heater by-passed. Only overheating problem I have ever had was radiator related. A very good pressure flushing cured that problem. I run a 7 blade fan, no shroud. Rule of thumb as I recall was if it overheats at low speed it's an airflow problem. If it overheats at highway speed, then it's a fluid flow problem. Old cars, old radiators, old engines sometimes need a good cleaning. You might want to check for squishy, colapsing hoses. (The spring inside can rust away, or some aftermarket ones dont have them) Another thing that comes to mind, for the guys without A/C, running a water pump for an A/C car is a good idea too.
Just my .02 worth.
