The absence of the block saver will not cause any trans movement, the reason for the plate is to save an expensive engine in the case of a clutch explosion, I knew a guy who ran a 4-speed Cobra Jet Mustang many years ago when it was a relatively new car, he didn't feel the block saver was important until he scattered the whole mess one Sunday at Conn.dragway, the shrapnel broke a nice size piece off of the rear of the engine, pretty expensive lesson. Make sure your machinist dials the housing onto the block you plan on using, doing it on a dummy block sounded like a great idea but in reality it didn't work so well, don't ask me how I know. It is really an easy operation to perform, just time consuming.
