Hi fellas,I happen to possess many if not all the technical service bulletins concerning the max wedge and hemi engines from 1962-1965. In the June 20, 1962 bulletin a propeller shaft PN 2401689 and universal joint cover package PN 2275514 is listed. On June 25, 1962 a revision is noted calling for PN 2401669 propeller shaft for manual transmissions and PN 2401355 for automatics. The manual version is shorter. In the December 11, 1963 bulletin it is noted that a " heavy duty" propeller shaft is used. " The shafts are selected for minimum run-out, close balance and incorporate a special high speed front U joint boot. I hope this may help.

One article pointed out that these were "heavy duty" but did not explain what that meant. The only thing I recall reading is that the driveshafts were "specially balanced" to handle the extra speed. I don't think they were bigger diameter than a big block driveshaft. The boot may have had extra adhesive to keep it secure at Max Wedge speeds, but that is something I heard but can't verify in a reference. I looked in a police car reference book to see if there was a special heavy duty cop car driveshaft but could not find one listed. I may have overlooked it if it is there. If so, it would seem a good candidate for the max wedge cars. Thanks, Gary H. W.A. What is the diameter of a MW original driveshaft? The one in my 383 Sport Fury is 2 3/4" in diameter. Are they the same or did the MW come with a beefier driveline?
