Well, it's 4" with my car all loaded up with the usual junk I store in it. With the car cleaned out and with my rear air suspension system installed, should be more like 5" which is pretty close to the OEM 7"..... I'm thinking of maybe bending my pipes which go under the k-rails so that clearance stays good there- all of the rest of the piping would be about the same clearance as these krails. The cats are an other story... guess I'll have to see what kinda size they are when they arrive.... Skid plates are just heavy gauge steel sheets welded on, no? Couldn't that then be done by some thick sheet metal fabricating? BTW- skid plates give me an idea... how about a false floor? Like a skid plate, only it covers the entire floor boards, exhaust system et al- thus protecting it from rust, rocks, etc. Would add a bit of wieght.... not much though..... --- Kenyon Wills <imperialist1960@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Your local 4WD parts house should have some really > nice skid plates that should help. > Make sure to have good entry speed going into steep > driveways that flatten out abruptly and you should > be fine. > > --- > > 4 inches clearance sounds wrong.
