413 Pistons and Front End Tools

1. Be careful that your local parts store, or any parts store, does NOT try
and sell you the late model lower compression 413 truck engine pistons for a
passenger car application. Otherwise, Egge Machine, Kanter, Sealed Power etc
are suitable places to look.

2. PLEASE dont try and press out the upper and lower ball joints from your
Imperial! They are designed to screw into the upper arm and the lower ones
are usually bolted to the spindles, trying to press them will usually just
destroy a part and may injure you!

3. Greasing the rubber parts of your suspension , such as bushings or shock
mounts will not help them. They are designed to work dry, most oils or
greases will only help them deteriorate. A little anti seize or light oil
on the bushing shells will of course help them into place.

4. A pickle fork IS the tool to separate a tie rod end or a center link, a
Pitman arm puller is designed to pull the pitman arm off of the steering
box.....hence the name. Its not really the best tool to separate a tie rod
end or a centerlink.
